Reveal
2004, colour and b&w inkjet prints
Taken from architecture, the term 'reveal' refers to an architectural detail of an otherwise unnoticed or unremarkable building that comes to represent or reveal the buildings cultural significance. Here, I have used it to refer to a detail (bone, rock, lichen) found in each landscape that reveals the true nature or significance of that landscape. Each landscape is a site where civilization borders on a wilderness that threatens to encroach it.
