Strata Series I (Lesley Spit)
2002, 16"x16" b&w fiber prints.
This project focuses on the urban environment. More particularly, it is about the power of nature to subsume the detritus of urban decay. Amidst the clean waste of torn down buildings that form Lesley Spit in Toronto's waterfront, nature thrives. Laying plant specimens over the paper as the image is exposed, I create ghost images of the weeds that will soon dominate the barren, ragged landscape and juxtapose these images with ones where the weeds have already taken over.
